Besides products, your store needs words: stories, an about page, answers to common questions, ways to reach you. This page covers the blog and every kind of page Rawnaq has a ready made layout for.

Pages are created in Shopify admin (Online Store > Pages > Add page). On the page, the Theme template box lets you choose a layout: default, about, contact, faq, wishlist or compare. Then you edit the page's sections in the theme editor (Online Store > Themes > Customize, and the page picker).

Blog

The blog lists your articles. Write articles in Online Store > Blog posts.

Select the Blog section in the page picker (Blogs > Default blog):

  1. Color scheme
  2. Introduction: a short text under the blog title.
  3. Text alignment
  4. Show tag filters: shoppers can filter articles by tag. Tag your articles in Shopify admin.
  5. Under Articles: Layout (Grid, 3 columns, Grid, 2 columns or Featured first article), Articles per page (6 to 24), Image ratio, Show date, Show author and Show excerpt.
  6. Top padding and Bottom padding.

Add an excerpt and a featured image to every article. They are what shoppers see on the blog list, and on the home page when you add a Blog posts section.

Article blocks

Select Article in the page picker (Blogs > Default article). The page is made of blocks you can reorder or remove. The section's own settings are Color scheme, Show breadcrumbs and Text width (560 to 900 px). The blocks are:

  1. Title and details: Heading size, Text alignment, Show first tag above the title, Show date, Show author and Show reading time.
  2. Featured image: Image ratio (Natural, Wide (16:9) or Landscape).
  3. Content: the article text, with Enlarge the first paragraph for a magazine feel.
  4. Share: share buttons.
  5. Tags: the article's tags, each linking to a filtered blog.
  6. Author box: the author name set on the article, with an Author bio you write once.
  7. Previous and next article
  8. Related articles: set Heading, Articles to show (2 to 4) and Fill with recent articles when few share a tag. Related articles are chosen by shared tags.
  9. Comments: Comments per page (3 to 20). Turn comments on for the blog in Shopify admin first (Blog posts > Manage blogs > the blog > Comments).
  10. App blocks, if you use apps.

Good to know

  • Short paragraphs, clear subheadings and one image every few paragraphs make articles easy to read on a phone.
  • Use the same tags across articles so related articles and filters work well.
  • Reading time is worked out automatically from the length of the article.

About page

  1. Create a page called About us. In Theme template, choose about.
  2. Open the page in the editor. It starts with the page title and text (Page section), followed by an Image with text section for your story, a Stats section for numbers, and a Newsletter section.
  3. Edit, remove or add sections. A Timeline or Testimonials section fits well here. See Homepage sections.

The Page section has Show breadcrumbs, Content width (Narrow or Standard), Heading size and Text alignment. The page content you wrote in Shopify admin appears there.

FAQ page

  1. Create a page called FAQ. In Theme template, choose faq.
  2. In the editor, select the Collapsible content section.
  3. Edit the Heading and add a Row block for each question, with the Question and Answer. For a long answer, use Page content to pull the text from another page.
  4. Choose a Layout: Rows only, Heading beside rows or Side image.
  5. Keep Add FAQ structured data on. It helps search engines show your questions in results.

Write real answers to the questions you get most: shipping time, returns, sizing, payment. Answers on your own site cut down repeat emails.

Contact page

  1. Create a page called Contact. In Theme template, choose contact.
  2. In the editor, select the Contact section. Fill in:
    • Eyebrow
    • Store address
    • Phone number
    • Email address
    • Opening hours: one line per day or range, for example Sat to Thu: 10:00 to 22:00.
    • Show WhatsApp link: uses the number from Theme settings.
  3. Save.

The contact form is part of the page. Messages arrive by email at your store's email address. Details you leave empty are simply not shown.

You can also add a Contact form section to any page, with a form and a side column of details. Its settings include Show phone field, Show contact details and Show map button. The map button needs a Map link in Theme settings > Chat and contact.

Store locations

Use this for stores that have more than one shop or showroom.

  1. Create a page called Our stores with the default page template.
  2. In the editor, choose that page and select Add section, then Store locations.
  3. Add a Location block for each shop. Set Store name, Address, Phone, Email, Opening hours, Image and Map link (a Google Maps link works). Button label changes the directions button.
  4. Choose Columns on desktop (1 to 3). An optional Banner image sits above the cards.
  5. Save, and link to the page from your footer menu.

Password page

While your store is under construction, shoppers see the password page. Turn the password on or off in Online Store > Preferences.

Select Password page in the page picker (Password):

  1. Background image with Overlay opacity.
  2. Eyebrow, Heading, Heading size and Text. Leave Text empty to show the password message from Preferences.
  3. Show countdown with Opening date (format YYYY-MM-DD, in your store time zone), Opening time and Countdown label.
  4. Show email signup, with a Signup heading, and Show social icons.

A Store owner? Log in link on the page opens a password box so you can preview the store.

Gift card page

When someone receives a gift card, they open a page showing the card. Rawnaq designs this page for you. It shows the value, a gift card code with a Copy code button, a QR code, a Print button and an Add to Apple Wallet link where supported, and a Start shopping button.

You do not edit this page in the theme editor. Its words can be changed in Online Store > Themes > Edit default theme content (look under gift_card). Gift card products and the recipient form are covered in Product page.

Other pages you can customize

  • Page not found (404): select Page not found in the page picker. Edit the Heading and decide whether to Show products from a Collection, with a Number of products.
  • Collections list, Search results, Cart items and Wishlist: see their own guides.
  • Legal pages: Privacy policy, Refund policy and Terms of service are written in Settings > Policies. The footer links to them when Show policy links is on.

Good to know

  • You can use any page template on any page. Use the default template for plain text pages such as Shipping and returns.
  • A page shows its title and your text, so you do not need to repeat the title inside the text.
  • Add key pages to the footer menu in Content > Menus so shoppers and search engines find them.
  • Create separate pages for Shipping, Returns and Size guide. The product page can open them in a popup. See Product page.
