"How much does an app cost?" is the question we hear most from founders in Cairo. The honest answer starts with an uncomfortable fact. The app on the phone is the smaller part of the bill. Behind every screen sits a server, a database and an admin panel your team uses all day. Around them sit a handful of integrations, and each one fails in its own way. Quotes for mobile app development cost in Egypt can sit five or ten times apart for exactly this reason. Some include that hidden half, and some quietly leave it out. Here are the bands we see in 2026, and what decides where your brief lands.
Three bands of mobile app development cost in Egypt
The first band is a simple app. Think of a catalogue, a booking flow or a members area with login and push notifications. One Flutter or React Native codebase serves both iOS and Android, with a small admin panel. With a capable studio, it runs roughly 250,000 to 600,000 EGP.
The second band is a transactional app. It adds customer accounts, online payment through Paymob or Fawry, order tracking and a real operations dashboard. It also speaks full Arabic and English. This band lands between 600,000 and 1,500,000 EGP.
The third band is a platform. Several apps talk to each other: customer, driver or merchant, and back office. Add live tracking, marketplace rules or a link into an ERP. A platform starts around 1,500,000 EGP, and teams price it in months of work rather than in screens.
These bands assume a team that designs, builds, tests on real devices and stays after launch. A freelancer listing that promises an app for a few hundred dollars is selling something else. Usually it is screen designs, or a template with your logo on it. That can be the right buy for a prototype you want to show an investor. It is not a product you can run a business on.
What actually moves the quote
The backend is the largest driver, and the one buyers forget. On most business apps, the server, the admin panel and the reporting take half the budget. That is where the rules live. Who can issue a refund? What happens when stock runs out? Which branch sees which orders?
Integrations come next. Every payment gateway is scoped engineering, with a sandbox and a failure mode. So is every courier API, such as Bosta or Aramex, every SMS provider for login codes and every ERP connection. User roles multiply everything. A customer app plus a driver app plus an admin panel is three products sharing one database.
Arabic is a second design pass, not a toggle. It means right to left layouts, proper Arabic typography and copy that reads as written for the customer. Offline mode matters too. An app that keeps working on a weak connection and syncs later is valuable for field sales and delivery. It also adds weeks to the schedule.
Cross platform versus native is a smaller fork than most people think. Flutter suits the large majority of Egyptian business apps and gives you one codebase for two stores. Native builds earn their extra cost when the app leans on the device itself. Examples are heavy camera processing, Bluetooth hardware and augmented reality.
The running costs after launch
The Apple Developer Program costs 99 dollars a year. Google Play charges a one time registration fee of 25 dollars. Servers, push notification services, maps and SMS codes arrive as monthly bills, mostly in dollars. Price them in the currency you pay them in, and review them every year.
Then comes maintenance. Both platforms ship a major operating system release every year. Google Play also requires apps to target a recent Android version, and Apple rejects builds that break its review rules. Budget 15 to 20 percent of the build cost each year to keep the app working, before any new features.
Check whether you need an app at all
Most Egyptian brands do not need an app yet. An app earns its cost when customers come back every week, for ordering, booking or loyalty. It also earns it when your own staff use it daily, for field sales, deliveries or stock counts. If your customers buy twice a year, a fast mobile website and a WhatsApp ordering flow will outsell an app. Nobody downloads an app for a twice yearly purchase. We set out the full test in mobile app or mobile web first.
If the answer is an app, our web and app development team will scope it with you screen by screen. Some apps have to run your operations. For those, our ERP, CRM and business app work connects the app to stock, sales and accounts from day one.
